The Healing Initiative is a program of the Twisted Crown Foundation dedicated to encouraging meaningful, survivor-centered creative work. Through its Stamp of Approval, the Foundation recognizes qualifying projects that demonstrate a commitment to thoughtful storytelling, responsible representation, and respect for the people and experiences behind the stories.

ReFrame advances gender equity in the entertainment industry. Its ReFrame Stamp recognizes film and television productions that have achieved gender-balanced hiring, highlighting the importance of equitable opportunities behind the camera.

Creative Projects

The Healing Initiative welcomes qualifying creative projects across film and television, books and literature, music, theater and dance, photography, visual arts, and other creative and storytelling mediums.

The program recognizes survivor-centered approaches to storytelling, representation, participation, and creative practice.

The Stamp of Approval does not guarantee a safe production environment, certify every aspect of a project, or endorse every claim made by its creators.

RESCATE: A Gonzo Tale of Hope

Currently in Post-Production.

In the deteriorating industrial town of Imperial City, Texas, Jacek Gendt, a small-time manager of local acts, and his longtime sweetheart, Rumble Tejada, struggle to keep their heads above water while running an inherited boarding house. When a familiar young face arrives seeking sanctuary, their lives begin to change. Told over three days against the backdrop of a sugar-mill strike, RESCATE is a story of community, family, and hope.

The Healing Initiative recognizes qualifying creative projects, productions, programs, and initiatives that demonstrate meaningful social impact, responsible creative practices, survivor-centered opportunities, thoughtful representation, or positive change.

Creative mediums include film, television, books and literature, music, theater, dance, photography, visual arts, and other creative and storytelling mediums.

A project does not have to depict trauma, abuse, trafficking, or a survivor’s personal story to qualify. Meaningful impact may arise through inclusive opportunities, survivor participation, safe and responsible creative environments, awareness, education, advocacy, and constructive social change.

Applicants are never required to identify themselves as survivors or disclose personal trauma histories. Submission does not guarantee approval.
